Avoiding Lung Cancer Risk

When it comes to your health, it’s best to use as much protection a possible. Protection does not always come in the form of a face mask or a condom. Protection can be as simple as avoiding risky behaviors that could develop into lung cancer. Here are a couple things to avoid in order to lower your risk of developing lung cancer.

1.) Avoid asbestos exposure- Throughout the 1970′s, asbestos was being used as insulation in homes and offices. It was an appealing product because of its flame retardant nature and the fact that it was very cheap to use. It wasn’t until many years later when people figured out that it was actually a key cause of lung cancer. Breathing in the substance actually causes inflammation as well as scarring on your lungs and internal organs before eventually resulting in cancer in later years. In addition or instead of cancer, asbestos exposure can result in other problems associated with your gallbladder or your esophagus.

2.) Smoking- Smoking cigarettes alone is enough to cause cancer in many people. Big tobacco has even caved to publci and government pressure and now warn you of such risks right on the pack itself. When smoking is combined with asbestos exposure, it is a sure fire recipe for lung cancer.

Lung cancer is an incredible painful way to die and the illness can be long and hard to bare. Wise decisions now can save you from developing this painful affliction. Make sure to avoid asbestos and kick that nasty smoking habit.
